Dr Janice Reichert was awarded her BS degree in Chemistry in 1984 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, and her PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1990 from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. In addition, she undertook a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Molecular Biology (1990–1992) at Harvard Medical School, USA.
Dr Reichert was a Senior Research Fellow from 1999 until August 2012, and a Research Assistant Professor from 2010 until August 2012, at Tufts University, Boston, USA.
Previously, Dr Reichert was a Senior Research Scientist at ARIAD Pharmaceuticals (1992–1996), a Research Scientist at The Gillette Company (1996–1999), and a Biochemistry Laboratory Instructor in 1999 at Framingham State College, USA.
Her research interests include trends in the clinical development and approval of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), strategic analyses of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, with a focus on the development of therapeutic antibodies, proteins and peptides, and the approval of these products in the US and European Union. Dr Reichert studies trends in the development and approval of prophylactic and therapeutic, e.g. cancer, vaccines. Starting in 1999 with a database established by former CSDD staff, she has further developed and maintained this database of key information including identity and clinical development benchmarks for prophylactic and therapeutic biopharmaceutical candidates and products.
Dr Reichert is a member of The Antibody Society, Peptide Therapeutics Foundation, Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and American Chemical Society. Since 2008 she has been a member of the Board of Directors at Peptide Therapeutics Foundation, and President of the Board of Directors at The Antibody Society since 2012. She was a Co-chair for the Clinical Trials Committee at Massachusetts Biotechnology Council between 2002 and 2007. Dr Reichert has been involved in various NIH and European Commission committee assignments between 2004 and 2010.
Dr Reichert is an Editorial Board Member of Drug Discovery Today and Protein Engineering, Design and Selection, and Editor-in-Chief for mAbs, a PubMed indexed, peer reviewed journal. She has been a member of the International Editorial Advisory Board of GaBI Journal since 2011.
Dr Reichert has published 40 refereed papers between 1991 and 2010, more than 10 editorials, and has participated in 26 invited lectures between 2008 and 2010.
Dr Reichert is now a consultant in biotechnology issues.
