After his pharmacy studies at the University of Amsterdam, Dr Rob Janknegt obtained his PhD in antibiotic policy at University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands, in 1994. He trained in hospital pharmacy at Maasland Hospital, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands. In 1993, he received his degree in clinical pharmacology.
For 22 years he was Hospital Pharmacist at Orbis Medical Centre, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands; and from 2010, he became Director of Pharmacy at Orbis Medical Centre, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands. Since 1989, he has also been Advisory Pharmacist at CZ insurance company (3.6 million patients), Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Dr Rob Janknegt is a member of the Royal Dutch Hospital Pharmacists Association (KNMP), The Dutch Society of Hospital Pharmacists (NVZA), The Dutch Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmaceutics, The Working Party on Antibiotic Policy, The Society for Infectious Diseases and The Special Interest Group of the Infectious Diseases NVZA.
He is also a member of the following internal committees: antibiotic working party, drug committee, ethical care committee, formulary committee, library committee, local advisory group scientific studies, medical ethics committee, and patient safety steering group.
His professional areas of interest focus on infectious diseases, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, drug selection, and formulary management.
Dr Janknegt is author of more than 380 publications and has given over 150 lectures. He developed the System of Objectified Judgement Analysis (SOJA) method, an interactive drug decision-making programme that promotes rational drug selection.
